The Fundamentals. Done Right. Every Time
Before the fancy dashboards and the AI-powered platforms, there are fundamentals that have to work.
Your employees need to be paid correctly. Your taxes need to be remitted on time. Your contracts need to comply with provincial law. Your benefits need to be administered properly. Your workers’ compensation needs to be registered and current.
These are not features. They are obligations. And they are where we put our energy.
Payroll Accuracy
An incorrect pay cheque is not a minor inconvenience. It is a breach of trust with your employee and a potential compliance issue with the CRA. We calculate gross to net pay for every employee, in every province, every pay period. CPP contributions. EI premiums. Federal and provincial income tax. Employer Health Tax in Ontario. QPP and QPIP in Québec. Provincial levies where they apply.
Some payroll amounts are remitted to CRA, while Québec payroll deductions and contributions may involve Revenu Québec. Ontario EHT is also not remitted to CRA. CRA handles federal payroll remittances, while Revenu Québec administers Québec specific items such as QPP and Québec source deductions.
Our Payroll Team includes certified Payroll Compliance Professionals (PCP) and a Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP). These are not generic HR generalists. They are specialists whose certifications are maintained through the National Payroll Institute and who understand the nuances of Canadian payroll at a level that most global platforms do not staff for.
Provincial Compliance
Canada has thirteen sets of employment rules. We track all of them. When Ontario updates its minimum wage on October 1, we apply it. When Québec adjusts QPP contribution rates, we update payroll. When BC introduces new leave entitlements, we amend contracts and processes. When CRA contribution ceilings change at the start of the year, every employee’s payroll reflects it from the first pay run.
We do not wait for you to ask whether something has changed. We monitor territorial federal and provincial legislation continuously and apply updates proactively. Compliance is not a feature we advertise. It is the baseline of everything we do.
HR Guidance
Employment questions come up constantly. Can we change this employee’s hours? What notice do we need to give for termination in this province? Is this role exempt from overtime? How do we handle a leave of absence request?
Your account manager provides practical guidance on these questions based on the applicable provincial employment standards. For situations that require legal advice such as complex terminations, human rights issues, or regulatory disputes, we connect you with our network of employment lawyers across Canadian provinces. This access is built into how we work, not a separate service you pay extra for.
Benefits Administration
Canadian employees expect supplementary benefits as part of their compensation. We set up and administer group health and dental plans, vision coverage, RRSP matching, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, employee assistance programmes, and health spending accounts. Benefits are enrolled at onboarding and managed ongoing, including life events, plan changes, and annual renewals.
We do not offer a single default tier that every employee gets. We work with you to design a benefits package that reflects your industry, your market, and what your employees need to stay competitive. A tech startup in Toronto and a consulting firm in Ottawa have different requirements, and we build accordingly.
Workers’ Compensation (WCB / WSIB)
Every Canadian province operates its own workers’ compensation board – WSIB in Ontario, WorkSafeBC in British Columbia, WCB in Alberta, CNESST in Québec, and equivalents in every other province and territory. Most employers are required to register and pay premiums, even for office based and remote workers.
We handle WCB / WSIB registration for every province where your employees work, classify roles under the correct industry codes, pay premiums on schedule, and manage any claims or reporting obligations. This is not an add on. It is a standard part of the service, because it is a standard requirement of Canadian employment.
Why The Fundamentals Matter More Than Features
A beautiful dashboard does not help you if your payroll is wrong. A slick onboarding flow does not matter if your employment contract does not comply with Québec’s Labour Standards Act. An AI chatbot does not fix a missed CRA remittance.
We invest in the things that actually protect your business and your employees. Accurate payroll, correct compliance, proper contracts, competitive benefits, and responsive human support. That is what an EOR is supposed to do. We just make sure it actually gets done.
