We Research Your Business Before We Speak To You.
You have sat through this meeting before. Forty-five minutes, and thirty of them spent explaining what your company does.
“So, tell us about your business.” “How many employees do you have?”, “What industry are you in?”. Questions you have answered on the contact form, on your website, and probably on LinkedIn that same week.
We decided long ago that our clients deserve better than that.
So before the first meeting with any prospective client, we do our homework.
What We Do Before The First Call
When you book a call with BridgewaterTI, my team researches your business before we speak. We look at what you do, how you are structured, where you operate, and the kind of roles you are likely to be hiring for in Canada.
By the time we get on the call, we already have a working picture of your situation. If you are a US software company looking at your first Canadian hire, we arrive knowing that, and we arrive with a view on whether an Employer of Record or a PEO arrangement is likely to fit, which provinces your candidates are probably in, and what questions actually matter.
That means the first conversation starts with your situation, not with basic background questions.
We spend the time on the things you cannot Google such as worker classification risk, province or territorial specific termination obligations, how Québec changes the picture, and what your total employment cost will really look like.
Where AI Fits In
AI is what makes this level of preparation practical for every single client, not just the biggest ones.
We use AI to support the research. We gather public information about your company, your sector, and the Canadian employment landscape that applies to you, which helps us organise it into something useful. What used to take an afternoon now takes a fraction of that, and the output is more thorough.
I want to be clear about two things, though.
First, this is research from public sources. We are reading what is publicly available about your business, the same way a well prepared consultant always has. Nothing confidential is involved, and nothing you share with us ever goes into public AI systems. That is a hard rule, and I have written about it separately.
Second, AI gathers. It does not conclude. The research lands with an experienced member of our team, who reviews it, discards what is wrong or irrelevant, and forms an actual professional view before we speak to you. AI output is a starting point, never a finished answer – which is why we cross-check everything against trusted sources before it goes anywhere near a client.
Why This Matters More With A Boutique
The big platforms can afford to make you do the explaining. You are one account among hundreds of thousands.
We are the opposite. Canadian employment is the only thing we do, and every client works with a dedicated member of our team who knows their business. That relationship starts before the first call because in my experience, the fastest way to show a client you will look after them properly is to turn up already understanding who they are.
The First Conversation Test
Here is a simple test I would encourage you to apply to any EOR or Payroll Provider, including us.
On the first call, count how many minutes are spent on questions they could have answered themselves. Then count how many minutes are spent on your actual problem.
Book a call with us and run the test. I am confident about the result.
