All 13 Provinces & Territories · Full CRA Compliance · Managed End To End

Running payroll in Canada means dealing with the CRA, federal and provincial tax layers, mandatory remittances, and employment standards that differ across thirteen jurisdictions. If your team is handling this from a spreadsheet or an offshore payroll system that wasn’t built for Canada, things start to break down. We operate Canadian payroll every day. That means we process pay runs, calculate and remit CPP, EI, and income tax, manage provincial compliance, file T4s, and handle the year-end reporting that the CRA expects – on time and accurately.

Whether you have five employees or five hundred, across one province or all thirteen, we take the payroll burden off your team.

Who This Service Is For

Our managed payroll service is built for companies that already have a Canadian entity and need reliable, compliant payroll operations.

This includes:

  • Canadian companies scaling their team and outgrowing in-house payroll or basic software.
  • International companies with a Canadian subsidiary or branch that need local payroll handled by people who understand how Canada works.
  • Companies running multi-province payroll and dealing with differing tax rates, employment standards, and remittance rules across jurisdictions.
  • Companies switching payroll providers because their current setup isn’t keeping up with CRA requirements, provincial changes, or reporting needs.
  • Companies with employees in Québec, where the QPP, QPIP, and unique provincial requirements add a layer of complexity most providers handle poorly.

What We Handle

We manage your Canadian payroll end to end. This is not a platform you log into and figure out yourself. We do the work.

Pay Cycle Processing

We calculate gross-to-net pay for every employee, apply the correct federal and provincial deductions, and process payments in Canadian dollars through Canadian banking infrastructure. Every pay run is accurate and on schedule.

Tax Remittances & CRA Filings

We remit all payroll taxes, CPP contributions, EI premiums, and applicable provincial levies to the CRA and provincial authorities on your behalf. You don’t chase deadlines – we handle them.

Record Retention

Bridgewater TI’s Canadian Payroll Service includes managing the mandatory 6 year record retention for compliance.

Provincial Compliance

Each province sets its own income tax rates, employment standards, statutory holidays, overtime rules, and termination requirements.

We apply the correct rules for each employee based on their province of work, whether that’s Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Québec, or anywhere else.

Payslips & Employer Reporting

Every employee receives a compliant payslip each pay period. You receive consolidated reporting that gives you full visibility into payroll costs, employer contributions, and tax obligations.

Supplementary Benefits Administration

Canada’s public healthcare system covers essential medical services, but most competitive employers offer supplementary benefits. We can help you set up and administer group health and dental plans, RRSP matching, and other benefits that help attract and retain talent.

Year-End Filing & T4s

We prepare and file all T4 slips and T4 summaries with the CRA, issue Records of Employment when employees leave, and ensure every year-end obligation is met accurately and on deadline.

Ongoing Compliance Monitoring

Contribution limits, tax rates, and employment standards change regularly at both the federal and provincial level. We track every update and apply changes to your payroll automatically. You are never caught off guard by a legislative change.

How It Works

Getting started is straightforward. We manage the complexity so your team can focus on running the business.

1
Confirm Entity and Registrations

We verify your Canadian entity status, CRA Business Number, payroll account registration, and any provincial registrations required. If anything is missing, we help you get it sorted.

2
Payroll Setup and Onboarding

We collect all required employee information- TD1 forms, social insurance numbers, banking details and configure your payroll in our system.

Employment contracts are reviewed to confirm alignment with provincial standards.

3
Pay Cycle Operations

Each pay period, we calculate wages, apply all deductions, process payments in CAD, generate payslips, and distribute pay to your employees. You approve the pay run; we do everything else.

4
Remittances, Filings, Reporting, and Year-End

We remit all taxes and contributions on schedule, provide you with regular payroll reports, file T4s and T4 summaries at year-end, and issue ROEs as needed.

5
Ongoing Compliance Updates

As federal and provincial rules change, we update your payroll configuration. Rate changes, new contribution ceilings, revised employment standards – we handle it.

What Makes Canadian Payroll Complex

Canadian payroll is rarely complicated because of one rule. It becomes complex because multiple rules interact at the same time.

CRA Registration And Accounts

You need a Business Number and an active payroll account with the Canada Revenue Agency before you can run payroll. This applies to every employer operating in Canada.

Federal And Provincial Tax Layers

Federal rules govern CPP and EI. Each province sets its own income tax rates and may impose additional levies such as employer health taxes. Québec operates its own pension plan (QPP) and parental insurance plan (QPIP).

Thirteen Sets Of Employment Standards

Minimum wage, vacation entitlements, statutory holidays, overtime rules, and termination requirements all vary by province and territory. Multi-province employers are managing multiple rule sets simultaneously.

Currency Requirements

Employees must be paid in Canadian dollars unless written agreement states otherwise. This means maintaining a Canadian bank account and managing exchange rates if your company operates in another currency.

Mandatory Employer Contributions

Employers contribute to CPP (or QPP in Québec), Employment Insurance, workers’ compensation, and in some provinces, employer health taxes. These costs vary by province and by employee earnings.

Year-End Reporting

T4 slips must be issued to all employees, and T4 summaries must be filed with the CRA by the end of February each year. Late or inaccurate filings result in penalties.

Don’t Have a Canadian Entity?

If your company does not have a Canadian entity but you want to hire employees in Canada, you have two options:

Employer Of Record Service (EOR)

We employ your Canadian workers on your behalf through our Canadian entity. We handle payroll, compliance, and employment obligations while you manage the day-to-day.

This is the fastest way to hire in Canada without setting up your own entity.

Professional Employer Organization Service (PEO)

A co-employment arrangement where we share employer responsibilities with your Canadian entity.

This can be a fit for companies that have an entity but want to offload HR, benefits administration, and compliance management beyond payroll.

Not sure which model fits? That’s exactly what the initial call is for. We’ll walk through your setup and point you in the right direction.
